Psalms reading:
"But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high." When times are tough and we are facing danger at every turn, we often wonder what is happening. It's easy to lose heart and even our faith in God. At such times, it would be trite and pithy for me as a minister to offer platitudes that God will simply take all the hardships away, and that in Christ life is like a bed of roses.
However, the Christian walk is not like that - we are in the world, even if we may not be of it! Yet this passage gives us the assurance that when we submit ourselves and place our trust in God, God will grant us the strength and the faith to hold our heads up high, facing any and all adversity with dignity and the assurance that God is with us, come what may.
